On May 11, 2020 Coach Yourous will resume providing professional softball skills instruction on an individual basis.
Dated April 29, 2020, Kentucky Governor Beshear's Executive Order laid out the state’s plan to gradually reopen business activities while continuing to keep Kentuckians safe from the novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19). There are several requirements that must be met to adhere with the governor’s current guidance. Specifically:
Services are required to be at 50% of pre-outbreak capacity. - Via this revised format we can meet and far exceed minimum social distancing requirements. Group clinics and team training sessions are canceled until further notice.
Continue telework where possible. - Coach Yourous will continue to offer pitching lessons via zoom for those who would prefer this method. Training via electronic device does have limitations, but she will do her very best to provide quality instruction.
Phased return to work. - Obviously Coach Yourous is the sole employee, but to comply with this intent she will keep her instruction periods separated to limit student contact while arriving or departing these instruction periods.
On site temperature health checks/testing plan. – Coach Yourous will monitor her own health and temperature daily, cancel lessons if she has any suspicious symptoms, contact her primary health provider immediately, and if determined necessary will be tested. She insists that the parents of her students also be vigilant. She asks that they take the temperature of their child on the day of and just prior to the lesson to ensure normal range. If the student or anyone in the immediate family has any suspicious symptoms, she asks that they reschedule the lesson after the health concern is resolved to include testing if determined to be necessary.
Universal masks and any other necessary PPE. – Coach Yourous will wear a mask when necessary in accordance with the current guidance, but since there is no close contact in her training sessions no further health personal protective equipment should be necessary. As always, sport protective equipment will be used when required.
Sanitizer/hand was stations. – There will be hand sanitizer closely available at the pitching lane and in the rest room where hand washing is also an option and recommended.
Close common areas and enforce social distancing. – There are no indoor common areas such as break rooms or conference rooms. However, if inclement weather causes us to move inside everyone is still required to maintain the social distance separation and wear a mask when necessary.
Limit face to face meetings. – As always it is easiest for Coach Yourous to communicate via text. However, she will make time when necessary to discuss issues via telephone if necessary.
Special accommodations. – Please contact Coach Yourous in advance via text or phone if any special accommodations are needed.
*********
Coach Yourous is determined to help her students maintain and improve their skills during the COVID-19 period. She understands all too well that they, like herself, endeavor to succeed and many if not all aspire to play softball at the next level whether travel ball, high school or college. She further recognizes that these athletes, properly developed, can compete for college scholarships which can provide them life-long opportunities.
For now, to ensure health & safety and to be in compliance, Coach Yourous has decided on the following:
1. All large group training will remain suspended:
a. The annual summer camp is postponed. Possible reschedule in late
June or early July.
b. Team training is postponed until further notice.
c. Group clinics will not be scheduled until further notice.
2. Individual instruction will be limited to those people necessary. Obviously,
pitchers will require catchers! When possible, the catcher should be a
family member.
3. All participants in this training must use their own equipment and not
share equipment with others. Balls which have been cleaned and
disinfected will be available in the bucket marked "CLEAN BALLS". After a
ball has been used it must be placed in the bucket marked "USED BALLS".
The "used balls" must not be used again until cleaned and disinfected.
News and updates:
April 29, 2020: We know everyone wants to have team practices and resume a regular game schedule to include tournaments. Scheduling and participating in organized summer youth sports in Kentucky will be decided by Govenor Beshear in the near future. He stated, "We hope in this summer, and we don’t know if it will be in June or perhaps early July, we hope that we will be able to do some youth sports.” Let' s remain optomistic!
May 7, 2020: Good News! Governor Beshear presented the second phase of his plan to reopen Kentucky's economy during the COVID-19 pandemic. Included in the announcement is that youth sports may also resume, provided they are "low-touch" and outdoors on June 15, 2020. Coach Yourous will announce camps and clinics for the summer and fall 2020 very soon.
