Fastpitch Softball Innovations, LLC officially registered as a Kentucky Limited Liability Corporation in mid-March 2017. We have been around much longer! Coach Yourous first offered softball skills lessons in Hardin County, Kentucky in 2010, and since then her student numbers have steadily increased. She is dedicated to teaching girls and young women the correct fudamentals of the game and to help them to develop their skills.
Coach Yourous has a long history of playing and coaching ball. At six years old her first team sport was T-ball. The next year she started playing girls slow-pitch softball. In the mid-1990s colleges and local high schools changed to the Olympic standard, competitive fastpitch softball, and so did the local youth league where she was playing. She loved the change and the challenge.
Coach Yourous has always enjoyed team sports and other physically challenging activities. She took ballet and tap lessons for seven years, simultaneously playing youth softball, soccer and basketball. Her freshman year in high school she tried out for and made all three teams. She played on the freshman basketball team for one season, but finally focused her athletic efforts on soccer and softball where she became a standout varsity player for both.
Coach Yourous further honed her softball skills by playing both recreational and competitive fastpitch travel ball during the summer months between school years. She continued to play travel ball after high school graduation until she left for college.
Her freshman year of college she tried out for and was selected as a 'walk on' for both the soccer team and the softball team. She quickly discovered that freshman academics, two daily team practices, weight training and team schedules was more demanding than she imagined. The decision was painful, but she finally made the choice to drop soccer and to focus on softball. Her college fastpitch experience was valuable, but unfortunately cut short when she sustained a shoulder injury during her sophomore year. The resulting surgery and a long recovery period ended her college fastpitch softball days.
Coach Yourous was an academic standout in high school and was likewise successful in college. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science, a Master of Education degree, and a second Master of Education degree in Special Education.
In 2005 Coach Yourous was hired to be the Varsity Girls Soccer Coach at North Hardin High School. At the time she was the youngest varsity head coach ever hired by Hardin County Schools. She coached the team for eight years. During her early soccer coaching days she was asked to coach at soccer summer camps and later as a soccer league skills coach. Somewhere along the line parents started hiring her to teach their girls softball skills. In 2011 she took the position as high school Junior Varsity Fastpitch Softball Coach. She found herself totally enamored with coaching softball and started coaching competitive summer travel fastpitch teams. After seeing the results of her fundamentals and skills training more and more parents have asked her to coach their daughters. What started as "a love of the game" has turned into a business which she loves.
During the school day Coach Yourous works as a teacher at a local middle school. She loves the work and values it most when her classroom teaching skills and mentoring result in student success.
Coach Yourous brings a lot to the table. Her combined years of experience as a player and a coach, plus her formal teaching education and teaching experience provide her with the professional skills it takes to coach a player to full potential.
